Would anybody doing this course like to give some feedback (the good the bad and the ugly) for somebody hoping to start this year. done honours biology and ordinary maths but no experience of chemistry or physics. What are the hours and workload like? How many in a class, are the lecturers good. Can you do extra tutorials for the likes of phy & chem.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey turninggreen.

From what you are saying you want to do Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Biology. You'll have about 13 hours of lectures a week and around 8 hours of labs (I think) so 21 hours of actual in class stuff. Having Honours Biology will help with Biology, you'll need to study maths as it is similar to honour Leaving Cert Maths. As someone who did Chemistry in Leaving Cert I had no problem but others in the class doing those 4 subjects found that the hardest and had to do some extra study in it. There is a good workload (Lab Write-Ups, Math and Physics assignments) but most of it is study. There are tutorials in all 4 subjects in first year that can help if you are stuck! Some of the lecturers in every course are awesome, some are terrible. The same with everything to be honest you just have to roll with it!

It's a good course, and, like everything, you'll get out what you put in. But if you want to do Physiology, Pharmacy or Anatomy you will have to be getting high grades! But you'll have a great chance to balance study and also head out with mates on the town and go to clubs or societies. Just enjoy it, first year wasn't too tough but once you get into 2nd year it gets progressively harder!

From Bio., Chem., Maths, Phy., subjects, Chemistry definitely the toughest subject imo of the 4 in 1st year undenominated science, not having done chemistry prior to that.

Strongly suggest you make a point of going to all the scheduled tutorials for Physics and Chemistry right from the start, as the questions done there by lecturers and tutors are more focused on those to be asked in Semester 1 and Semester 2 exams, from experience.
