CEIST Schools

A friend applied to a school in the CEIST group (A collection of voluntary Catholic Secondary Schools) recently, actually handed in her application on the closing date for the position advertised in the National Press. The closing date was on a Monday and she had a letter back two days later,(Wednesday) telling her that her application was not being considered for the vacancy.
It was a rather quick turnaround by all accounts! Is this common? Again in a time when Catholics in this country have to yet again suffer bad press due to the horrendous carry on of their forefathers what criteria is required to work in the Irish Voluntary Catholic Secondary School system.
My friend says that she fulfilled all Dept of Education criteria and was rather shocked to have been turned down so quickly after closing date.At least I suppose she got a reply!!

Did it say they were short listing?sometimes when they get hundreds of applicants they short list using criteria like years experience etc.agree was a very quick reply.

Probably nothing to do with catholic, just a very efficient school. They probably got sack loads of applications

Just efficient I'd say. I'd imagine there's a bit of short listing as applications come in and once closing date has been, rejection letters are put in the post. I got call saying I didn't get a job day of interview and letter saying the same either the next day or day after. I'd guess they want stuff to be done and dusted before the holidays
