Hi. As title says, this happened my red kia yesterday. Big patches of a plastic like coating on the paint just peeled off. it was a scorcher so not sure if heat had something to do with it. No other damage to front bumper so not sure why this has happened...it looks awful.
Just wondering if anyone knows what might have caused it and how much it could set me back to fix it? Car is only six years old - I didn't think this would happen a car that age. I've also got 152000km up on it, so just out of warranty.

Has the bumper ever been repainted? It sounds like a cheap paint job was done on it at some stage. Usually it would be caused by poor prep.

If it's never been painted it would be worth checking the warranty info. I don't know what the paint warranty is on the car but that shouldn't happen on a relatively fresh car.

Paint only has 36 months or 36,000 mile warranty with Kia

Nope, it's definitely never been repainted, I bought it new. From what I've seen online, once I went over the 150k mark, the warranty is no good. Doesn't seem right to me either that it happened this soon. Just worried it'll be an expensive job!

You'll get a bumper repainted for about 250.

Worth taking it to a Kia dealer and seeing what they say. Seem to remember the Soul Red Kia C'eed (08) we had, had similar issues on the front grill.

Sold it as it was though
