I've applied for my grant and prior to that both of my parents were receiving job seeker's allowance. However in the last few days they've both been cut off for complicated reasons. How will this change affect my application? And what should I do about it?

It depends on the complicated reasons. If your parents were receiving social welfare but also had other undeclared income it could get very messy.

It also depends how far along your grant application is.

Don't they want all the information for last year though?

Yes but if there is a change of circumstances they can account for that

The thing is though - if the OP is entitled to the special rate based on the fact that his parents receive social welfare he'd be better off saying nothing and loeaving the 2013 income assessed

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
