Who collects old car batteries, Mayo?

    I am just wondering who collects and pays for old car batteries, I have a good few and can get more. Mayo area.

    Try Stanley Jackson, Moneen Road, Castlebar. I know he collects scrap metal.

    Just in case you didn't know or can't get paid for them - or someone else finds this thread.

    Under WEEE you can recycle them free.

    Since September 2008, all shops that sell batteries must take back your waste batteries for free recycling, regardless of whether you purchase anything in their store

    Just to clarify that last bit - you can't take a used car battery to your local Tesco or Smyths Toys and expect them to take it as you would with AA batteries.

    That link of yours specifically says:
    Household batteries such as AA, AAA and button cell batteries can be brought back to your local supermarket, newsagent or discount store.
    Car batteries can be brought back to your local garage or motor factor, and electric fence batteries can be brought to your local agri-store.

    Your local council bring site should be able to deal with car batteries too...
