Hello Could someone help I have tuned in free to Air on a Sky auto tune box. The problem is I tried to decode it pressing back up and the four lights coming on when I turn it back on all the Irish stations and all the others that are not free to Air are still on it. I pluged it out still did not work. I know it can be done and all the ITV channels put on The TV guide instead of other channels. You can only tune in auto view in the TV Guide which is what I want.
    Please Please help.
    Thanks Mairead

Is it a Sky HD box? If so based on other threads in the satellite forum its not possible to reset the Sky box back to UK channels, UK Sky card required. Recent thread here - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=90460328

Thanks for that: no it is not a HD box it is an old grey box with the controls on the top of the box. I know someone who did reset this type of box, I am trying to reset it doing it the same way but it does not work. Putting my finger on back up for a minute keeping my finger on the backup button I plug out box leave this out for a minute keeping finger on backup, plug power back in wait for four light to come on take finger off back up, text on screen will say download will take 10 minutes, power then turns off. When I turn box back on the tv guide is the same all the channels that are not free to air still there. Channels that are on other channels did not transfer which should have happened.
If anyone can help I would be so grateful.
    Thanks so much.

Hi mairead, have u tried powering off the box and turning it on without any card in it.

As far as im aware you wont get irish channels through satellite, they are subscription based through sky.

Thanks so much for reply: I have no card in it, yes the Irish channels are subscription based I wanted to not have them on when I tried to reset it. I just want to have all the free to air in the TV guide. The box I have has auto view which I want to use I record on a DVD. That way I don't have to remember to change channel.
Thanks anyone that can help would be great

Why do u want to get rid of the non working channels. just ignore them
Have you a favourite list, untick all the channels then try the reset

    try that, hope it helps.

Thanks for reply if I get rid of all favourite list do you think it will reset then for me. The only reason I want to get rid of non working channels is it just is easier to find what you are looking for.
    Thanks so much

Free to Air This is Mairead Breathnach here could someone check out my Threads about resetting my old grey Sky box with controls on top of the box. Nothing has worked. The main thing I would love to have fixed is to put all the channels I have in other channels in to favourites, that way I will have EPG on these channels and will be able to auto view them. This is why I wanted to get this old box because it has auto view. I like to record on my DVD recorder. Auto view is so handy as you will not forget to change channels. Please check out my other threads as I have explained all that I have done to reset the box.
    Thanks so much

You could reset the older boxes up to a while back, sky did several software/firmware updates
which now prevents the box defaulting to UK epg when card removed and box rebooted..
    Sorry it's not more positive.

samsid: Thanks so much for your reply that must be the reason I cant reset it. What a pity as I want to use the autoview. That was the reason I wanted to get an old box. It is too much hassle try to find stations when it can't be reset to the English EPG.
    Thanks any way Samsid

A cheap Freesat HD sat receiver like this Manhattan Plaza will give you all the UK channels in the correct order. It has a user friendly interface like the Sky box but not cluttered with blank channels - http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/digital-boxes/manhattan-plaza-hd-s2/.

Use your existing dish, simply plug, tune and play.
