Really just to keep an eye on eBay is your best bet.

You shouldn't bother collecting PAL at all. NTSC games are far cheaper and they run in full screen and 60 Hz. Collecting for PAL is a mugs game on the PS1 since there's no way to speed them up like on other consoles.

I started on pal and some games are better in pal, so ill stick with pal, Rouge Galaxy on the ps2 is a good example, couldn't find a ps1 example but i know theirs 1 or 2.

I know ntsc is better most of the time but there not cheaper, us shipping........Is the bane of my collecting.......:pac:

Suikoden 2 and Kula World is the only example I can think of on PS1, the first has a better translation but suffers from bordering and slowdown and the second is the only game I know of on PS1 that was PAL optimised. Anything else I've played has been a disaster of a PAL conversion and even games where effort was put in like MGS just feel off compared to the US release.

US shipping adds a bit to the more common games but it's worth it since they play so much better. The rarer games though are significantly cheaper from the US. TBH outside of car booth sale type bargains I find even with US shipping the majority of games are cheaper although the ebay customs bull**** is making them harder to find.

I'm really considering selling my PAL collection and just buying everything again in NTSC if I get the time.

PS2 is different since about 2 years in most developers made an effort to include 60Hz modes in their games. It's best to have a mix of PAL and NTSC there. However there's some really awful PAL conversions, pretty much anything from Square Enix falls into that. I still find most of the harder to get games cheaper from the US although the PS2 had some excellent PAL exclusives.

Yeah I've started collecting ntsc ps1 games the last year or two now. The only pal games I would buy now are pal exclusives or a really cheap find I could trade for the ntsc version!

It's my favourite RPG on the PS1. Only Valkyrie Profile comes close.
