Hi, I was wondering if you take on a 3 day week job and are made redundant after a time period, are you only entitled to a lesser amount of JSA?

    Many thanks

JSA rates depend on your age,not on your work history.

JSA is also means tested. I think you are asking about jobseekers benefit which is dependent on your number of contributions and also on your average weekly earnings in the governing contribution year.

If its jsa then the number of days you worked or your income from employment will not be assessed as you are unemployed but if you have savings and if you have a spouse/partner who is working then their earnings are assessed or if you live at home and are under 25 then your parents income is assessed.

Sorry yes it is job seekers benefit I am querying, basically I am wondering will I be entitled to full benefit if this job only lasts a couple of months?

It depends.... to qualify for jsb you need to have a total of 104 a class contributions paid in total. If you will be made unemployed in 2014 then 2012 is the gcy (governing contribution year) you need to have 39 paid or credited contributions in that year or 26 paid in 2012 and 26 paid in 2011. The amount you receive on jsb depends on the average weekly earnings in the gcy year.
Also if you have previously been in receipt of jsb and this exhausted then you need to have paid 13 a class contributions after day 156 of that claim.

If you currently have a jsb/jsa or credit claim then you need to let the office know that you have commemence employment

Hi I have been let go from my part time position but when I enquired in social welfare they said I wouldn't be entitled to anything as I didn't work in 2012 (I was on illness benefit) is this correct? As when I initially enquired I was entitled to a reduced rate of 87.50 a week.
I am currently looking into going into childminding but it's going to take me a few weeks to get a job etc

I have no idea to be honest but if you apply for JSA the dept will look at your stamps ect and may find you have enough.

To qualify for Benefit you need 39 credits or ccontributions in 2012 but at least 13 must be contributions. IE you must have been working not getting Illness Benefit for 13 weeks in that year.
