How does the Reddit software swap work? Ive seen it suggested a few times. Its clearly not legitimate?! Ive looked em up for a copy of windows 8.1, so cheap! Seems almost too good to be true......

They acquire them legally, you and I using them is legal, however them transferring ownership of the license in exchange for money is a bit of a grey area. Probably breaks their terms of service however that's not our problem, we get a legit key for $10.. Someone is eventually going to be scammed and it'll be my fault for telling everyone but you could get scammed 10 times and still be up money over buying the disk from microsoft

I'll take my chances...I'll be sweating if it comes to down to the tenth one! In the case of gaming Windows 8.1 seems to be getting the nod? Is this what you're running or what do you suggest? And after that, Standard, Pro or Enterprise? OS is obviously something I better not overlook!

Seems to be getting the nod now especially if you get the few free apps to completely get rid of the metro tile thing. I'm still using windows 7 but not out of any reason in particular, I just haven't felt the need to upgrade yet. I also paid full whack for this license so I'll get my moneys worth out of it.. it's a pity I didn't know about reddit software swap until recently..

Go for professional. All the same price on RSS, but professional is what you should get, unless you want ultimate just for fun, but I think the iso is substantially bigger because several languages come with it? That's how windows 7 worked anyway.

If I was looking for a new os now I'd be getting 8.1 professional 64 bit (same keys for 32 and 64, but just for when you're downloading the iso to install make sure its 64)

Yeah I'm running 8.1 standard on a laptop and have gotten used to it. It did take some time though but i rarely leave the desktop and can right click windows icon as the start button. Cheers for the advice though. RSS is probably the route I'll go down. Hopefully it'll free up some more funds for the hardware!
