NCT - wing indicators

I know the 4 corner indicators all need to be working for NCT, but does a blown wing indicator bulb mean a fail too? Car being tested tomorrow, and this bulb has blown since the service/NCT check last week.

Where “repeater” indicators are fitted as standard equipment, these must be working.

    Thanks!

All bulbs were working last week - do you check yours on a daily basis? Blimey!

Was surprised to learn that the side repeaters don't cause the double speed effect when they blow. Will pop into the auto factors tomorrow.

No I don't check them every day on the car :o (I do on the lorry)

I do observe the indicators though, as they flash when the keyless entry is operated.

But it was just a bit of good-humour joshing at the long-fingered approach some folk take when they only change their lightbulbs when the NCT man tells them too and go around with lights out the rest of time.

The flashing rate change really depends on the flasher unit fitted.

Some tick faster. Some tick slower. Some don't change at all.

I was driving a Scania the other day. The front and rear ones were working and the flash rate was fine. The give-away that something was up was that the tell-tale on the dash wasn't working at all in that direction.

Good luck with test and hopefully you'll save yourself a re-visit.

I failed on that myself once. The wiring was corroded.
Got a new repeater off a guy on adverts for a few bob.

@macplaxton Thanks again. I still remember that informational ad they used to show on RTE probably 30 years ago about truck safety, that showed the driver going through his pre-travel routine. Lights, tire pressure, etc. Car drivers believe all is well if it starts and there are no weird noises or smells.

@biko I never considered it was anything other than a bulb - slightly worried now. Bulb still by far most likely culprit, I suppose.

Don't worry about the wiring too much.

I've only had corroded wiring of a wing repeaters in ye olde days of cars when the manufacturers never bothered to fit wheelarch liners.
