Crash with UK reged car in Dublin

UK registered car nearly (phew!) crashed into me today and I was wondering what would happen in that situation, assuming he was responsible for it? Would I be able to get my money off his UK insurance company or would it be a major pain that could go on for ages? Anyone had a similar situation in the past?

His insurance should still cover him for international driving - third party at least which means you. If not then it's the Motor Insurer's Bureau as any other uninsured driver. This might be better in Motors - the guys there would more than likely know the ins and outs of this.

Probably easier than dealing with a native. If you crashed in England would you want to be trapsing back over there to defend a claim if you were at fault?

Your first problem is going to be getting the other driver's insurance details, I don't think they are displayed in the window. You might require the Gardai to compel production, but they may be reluctant to attend if no one is injured.
