Hose won't fit power washer

    Hi guys,

I am having a little trouble in connecting a garden hose to a power washer I bought this afternoon. Basically, the end of the hose just will not connect to the machine, which means I can't use it.

I specifically asked about this before getting the hose because I've had issues before, and she told me that it would fit. It doesn't.

I have already opened the packaging on the hose so, just incase I get rejected in my effort to secure a refund, is there anything I can get to solve the issue, or am I just looking at forking out for a new hose?

    Thanks.

you should have a connection like the one on the left of this image on the power washer, and have the one on the right on the hose, they should click together? hozelock_threaded_tap_connector_hose_connector_-_2175_6025.jpg

Those are what I have on my Karcher too, it's pretty much a standard fitting on all power washers, domestic ones anyway.

Sometimes you'll find they're a bit hard to get on, in which case pulling back on the spring loaded 'sleeve' on the hose connector while pushing onto the power washer connector can help a bit.

A little wshing up liquid will help as well

    True.

Also make sure if you have a waterstop type connector on the end of the hose that the hose is a) not connected to a tap that is turned on or b) the hose isn't under pressure from water trapped in it, otherwise you'll never get the thing on.

Not an ideal solution I know, but can you get your hands on a 20 or 30 gallon barrel, fill it using the garden hose and place power washer hose in barrel.
It will also help to prolong the life of your washer as it will have the correct supply of water at all times.

Youre right, not ideal at all.

Post 2 should see you right OP.

Quick-fit connections on power washers are not all the same, so a hose connector of a different make will not necessarily fit it. However, they are all the same thread size where they screw into the washer casing, so all you need to do is buy a threaded male connector and a matching stop end female connector from any hardware store. Unscrew the male connector from the washer and screw in the new one, and away ye go!

Use boiling water on the hose to soften it....... then slip it on
