Emirates Cancels Entire A350 Order

Just means more for everyone else and with a shorter leadin time. Things change in aviation very quickly so I don't expect those slots to be vacant for long. The performance figures on the 350 are outstanding by all accounts. Emirates will probably want some longer range and larger aircraft such as the 380 or 777.

While not great news for Airbus, I'm not sure it's terrible either. As basill says, it will be good news for everyone else waiting for deliveries, and in the future could lead to more orders sooner.

Also emirates ordered 50 A380s a month ago, and there's no doubt they are happy with the type and will keep ordering them. It would he worse for Airbus if the A350 order had been replaced with anything from Boeing, which hasn't happened here

If I would know how to do it, I would buy a couple of Airbus shares now as their price has gone down. In a larger scale, unless a disaster strikes, it has nowhere to go but up and I bet by the end of the decade they will double their value

considering 2 years ago it was between 25 and 30 and considering its up 10% in the last 6 weeks - a 3% downturn wouldn't indicate that the shares can only go higher....

hey, what do I know, I think the fact that I don't know how to buy shares says it all..

I'm just thinking, surely when the deliveries of a350 start, the price will sky-rocket as they did when a380 was rolled out

Think Ryanair must be delighted with this? MOL was rightly pissed off with Emirates being on everyones Long-Haul order books.

    Not really sure why?

It essentially locked Ryanair out of the market for buying Long-Haul aircraft for years, because everyones books are full with the Gulf Carriers (mostly). Although it should be pointed out if Ryanair were to buy any aircraft its more of the current price levels thats a deterrent for them rather than availability.

I think the fact they don't want to fly transatlantic is a big factor too.

The A380 didn't really have any competition at the time, the A350 is competing against the 777/787.

I doubt it. EI originally had 6 delivery slots in 2015, 2016 and 3 more "no earlier than 2017".
In the Full Year results published in March these slots had been pushed back to 2017+.
I can't the situation for EI having changed much in 4-5 months.

Cheers for that who would be the likely candidates to fill this cancelled order?
