Hi I was just wondering could someone advise me as to whether to get an A or A2 learner permit, passed theory test today and have appointment at NDLS centre but can't decide which one is best. I'm 30, male and would probably like to get a honda deauville eventually not hugely interested in getting a sports bike if any of that is relevant. Thanks for any advice anyone can offer me. I've read through loads of different threads and can't seem to make heads nor tails of it.

    You're over 24. Get an "A" - it's a no-brainer.

Will it be much different in terms of difficulty learning on a bigger bike?

No. There isn"t a pint of piss between an A and A2 machine in terms of learning. Don't sweat it, find a good ADI and enjoy it.

Give lookbehindyou from here a shout, he has trained a lot of the people here and received great feedback! He'll sort you out a good rate too.

Your new 2 year permit will have all the bike categories on it (as you are over 24), so both A and A2 in your case. It's for the driving test that you need to be thinking about whether you go for the A or A2 for.

Why restrict yourself and ad extra tests/costs. Go A and if you don't have a bike suitable rent it off the school.
