    Any views on mounding?

About to plant a fair bit of oak and I was thinking if we get a dry spell over next month or so are the plants more susceptible to drought?

Also has anyone here experience with planting this time of year?

    Thanks

    MBP

What's your question on mounding relate to? Drying of the mounds?

Are they cold stored trees? As long as they are properly planted, including soaking the roots before planting you should be fine.
Had the experience of planting container grown larch early one spring. A week later there began a 9 week drought. I had to water 4 acres of larch...something I never want to do again...but it was one heck of an experience of what can happen.

It all depends on whether the summer will be wet or dry. Your failure rate will be higher the drier it is. What is the big hurry, are you getting the trees/labour a lot cheaper now than in 6 months time?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
