    hi

I bought a new garmin edge 810 and put it where my old 510 was. It picked up the heart rate monitor, speed/cadence but I can't seem to get cadence displayed on my screen. I get speed on the screen but not cadence. Any ideas ??

    RTFM

You need to set up the screen to display the required fields. There are multiple screens that can be tailored to discplay whatever you select. Dont select to view cadence = dont see cadence.

With the 500, its a case of hiolding down the bottom left button and going into 'Settings' It will be something similar on the 810.

see attachment. Its not connected to anything at the moment but no data comes on the screen for cadence even after the speed/cadence sensor has been recognised.

Could it be the battery ?

Have you tested the GSC with the LED lights? Instructions on how to do it are at 8 and 9 here:

OK, so back to the start.........

    You need
    1. the GSC-10 (pic below) sensor to pick up the signal from the
    2. Magnet unit attached to the adjacent crank arm
    3. The GSC-10 needs a battery in it
    4. The line on the GSC10 has to align with the corresponding mark on the crank arm magnet

You have two options for registering speed:
    1. Use the 810 itself for 'GPS speed' or
    2. Use a wheel magnet in conjunction with GSC-10 to calculate speed based on wheel circumference/distance travelled.
If you dont have the GSC10, you cannot calculate cadence, but can still calculate/display speed and related parameters (distance etc)

battery is ok because speed readings are coming back. I hit the reset button a few times but didn't see any flash. (im still looking).

**EDIT I got it... it was out of position. Very hard to notice but all three peices (on pedal, spokes and on frame) have a small window that I forgot was so sensitive.

Thanks for your help... I wouldn't have got it.

I was setting up a Garmin Edge 800 myself yesterday, could not get the cadence anywhere on screen.

Once you sorted out the position of the sensor, did the cadence readings appear on screen?
