Hi, Im looking to buy a mature tree (40 foot or more) to put in the center of a large grassy area just to break up the space as it looks boring. I need it to be as big as possible and something weeping.. any ideas of what to get and where to get them? And of course for as reasonable a price as possible!! Anyone bought any and at what price and what size?? Im in Kildare :)

Flannerys nursery in Donadea- they have a huge onsite nursery and do all sorts of one-off mature trees. The one note of caution that I see repeated on a lot of forums is that larger trees really get a shock when replanted and can take a long time to get established, whereas a smaller tree can actually catch up in size because it can start growing quickly.

There Irish Tree Centre gets good coverage in the media, of the articles I've seen. I think a "reasonable price" is meaningless. One tree is going to cost you... you've no "economies of scale" and your delivery costs are not going to be spread. Of course, an inexpensive tree may cost you less than a grand, but something more specialised would be a five figure sum.
