    Hi,

I am asking this question on behalf of a friend. He and his wife are Indian and have lived in Ireland for the last 3 and a half years. They had a child 6 months ago and as they were in Ireland for the 3 years before the childs birth the child is an Irish Citizen. they are now looking to apply for naturalisation and are wondering if they can apply now as their daughter is an Irish Citizen or if they have to wait the 5 years?

    Thanks for any help.

They have to wait the five years. In the meantime, if they currently have an insecure status (eg, tied to their employment) they can apply for residency under the Zambrano ruling.
