I bet it's Roscommon. No big towns at all.

There's a Tesco in Roscommon town.

    Is it Monaghan?

Kilkenny. Still surviving as a county, because Tesco is nothing special, as the shoppers leaving to shop elsewhere in their droves in the UK shows.

    Kilkenny don't have one thankfully,
Its no loss at all not having one, def nothing special about Tesco and they certainly don't give the best value

Is this a complaint or a bit of trivia?

On the other hand, Kilkenny city has two Dunnes stores. One fairly adequate behind the main street, and one inadequate one in the McDonagh centre (in there presumably to keep out Tesco).

By the same token. Clonmel has three (count 'em) Dunnes stores.
Maybe their store planning makes sense to themselves.

Most of the big stores are within Kilkenny City so this keeps business in the city,

If you look at Clonmel the massive Tesco Extra they have is outside of the centre of town,

This really isn't a Consumer Issue, and as I'm not really sure where to put it, I will close it.
