Visited my local welfare office today to inform them that my other half would be starting work tommorrow and making an application to FIS.

At the moment I claim for us both and our children.

The welfare office told me to have my other half to fill out the FIS form and send it off, meanwhile I need to continue claiming JSA, but return a form with proof of earnings to them for my Qualified Adult and the payment wil be adjusted for them.

Im really confused, I wanted to sign off and look after our child, but Im being told to continue signing which in effect means Im still looking for work, but I clearly cant take up employment. Meanwhile my other half is sending off a FIS form to claim for me as a QA.

Im also being told by welfare that FIS are taking 4-5 months to process our claim!

    Any idea whats going on?

    Thanks.

I think what the person is trying to say is, you will get no payment for maybe 16 weeks with fis, but if you stay on jSA then there will be a payment. any Jsa paid will be deducted from your fis.

but if you are not job seeking, then sign off.
