Its broken and the rage on the ubi forums is hilarious. At every part of the install it states "BETA may not work, not finished" etc

I can't even make it past the first mission, got sick of watching loading video over and over. I keep running out of time just before I hit the 3rd marker. Damned if I'm sitting through that annoying intro again.

I'm installing it now, but I'll hold off on playing it until my day off tomorrow I think. I've played on so many betas over the years I know what to expect, hell I actually get put off a game if the beta is too smooth, always feels like more of a publicity stunt than an actual beta test.

Thats a "bug" your car goes as fast as your PC.

I getting 30fps in High but you have to lower it to make your car go faster.

Actually had no great problems so far, just drove from the starting area n Detroit to Vegas and the Bonneville salt flats which are awesome!. The completionist in me is gonna have a field day with this game

No luck, put the settings down to low and reduced the resolution but all it seemed to do was make the cops more aggressive. There's no way for me to outrun them, when I hit the boost button it seems to give every car around me a boost not just mine. I did get a bit further and could see the last marker but there's no point in me continuing with this until it's updated.

This game has potential, plenty to do in SP and its a borderline MMO with the sheer amount of missions and car addons. Solid driving engine but I play NFS for fun, seems to be tonnes of enthusiast driving game settings. Not sure if they are half arsed or not.

Online has potential but its Ubi they always have potential in their games, its the follow tru that fails.

I played a little bit of this a couple of days ago after they told me I got into the Beta. It's a lot like Need For Speed World tbh, but the scale is fantastic and I'm looking forward to playing a bit more of it and just driving across the country. It plays and feels like any other arcade racing game (at least to this inexperienced and casual drivey drivey person), the controls need some work I think, but they're passable and the whole purpose of the beta is to allow for feedback on these things I'm sure.

Simply just driving long distances is a lot of fun, and just picking up the landmarks and challenges out in the open as well.

Im hoping to unlock the dirt spec later tonight or tomorrow so I can do some proper long distance off roading without just wrecking my car before the betas closes on friday.

I finally got this working properly, it seems to be an issue with the brakes being constantly engaged. Some people recommend switching the driving aid thingy to race, that didn't work for me but hardcore mode eventually did.

I had to shut down all background programs in windows, the likes of skype and steam, I turned off my extra monitors and can now run the game in ultra.

I played for a while with the xbox controller then hooked up me wheel and pedals, was a bit surprised to see you can use a clutch and h shifter, tried it for a while but it doesn't really suit all the cars.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to want to let me rebind the up and down gear to my paddles so I'm stuck with automatic for now. This is my first time using the wheel with an arcade racer, the FFB is very basic but driving is pretty easy with the wheel.

I'm not sure about the game over all, I can spend ages messing around in it when I'm playing but I don't think it's got enough draw to make me want to load it up again and again.

Gave it two hours of play, I'll go over a few points.

Pros:
1) Graphically, it's actually very smooth for me. GTX 650 1GB and 8GB of RAM and AMD FX-4 4130 3.8GHz CPU. As you can see, nothing astounding, all standard stuff.
No noticeable screen tears, no lag and no issues on the first mission. Even driving at full speed in a Chevrolet from New York to LA was smooth.

2) Controls are decent on a keyboard, even better on a proper controller.

3) A nice transition between in-game graphics and cinematics, no massive loading screens.

Cons:
1) Story is retarded, the idea of the FBI agent actively taking part in an illegal street race is just silly.

2) The bloody microphone thing! Why the hell can I not mute the gurblings and screeching sounds from random people within about 10 miles of me. I had to get out of NY as quick as possible because it was so bloody annoying. Surely GTA Online was a lesson to everyone here?

Closing thoughts!
Fun to play, especially if you're a fan of Need for Speed and similar games, and certainly one to watch out for. I won't pre-order yet, but may do so closer to release. Looks like a lot of fun so far, but we won't really know for sure until it's been out a while and seeing what end-game type stuff is going on.

Those cinematics annoy the head of me. You have to skip two just to leave the HQ. I wish they'd just drop all that kind of craic.

I didn't know what was going on when that happened first, half the people talking didn't seem to know what was going on either.

Yeah if your using a controller theres a prompt to hit B to skip them.

Also cant agree more with the microphone issue. The UI system using the same stupid "smartphone" menu idea from watchdogs is also very unintuitive.

I've heard friday. I won't get to play much more of it at that rate. Haven't really been convinced it's worth buying outside of a steam sale either.

Unfortunately wont get much time to play it again till friday at this rate, they really should have opened it for a full week, 4 weekdays is pointless.

So far though ive enjoyed it and its looking good for a buy i think

I sat at my desk waiting for the game to load for 2 minutes, nothing. Tried quitting, nothing. Task Manglered it, finally quit. Tried again, same result. Didn't bother trying a third time as I've been getting stuck into AC Black Flag and since UPlay was already open, I spent my evening at that instead.

I'm sorta on the fence now, I know it's a beta (in the real sense of the word and not a marketing stunt). If another Beta rolls out, I'd like to try it, I think the game has potential, but the more I've thought about it, the only thing this has going for it over NFS World is the driving across Murica which definitely appeals, but I don't know if it's €50 appealing

Mark August 25th on your calendars; the roads will be yours for a second PC Closed Beta.

Here is everything you need to know about this second phase:
Players who had accessed the game or simply redeemed their key on Uplay PC, during the first Closed Beta, will automatically have access to this second Closed Beta.
All keys sent for the first Closed Beta that haven’t been activated on Uplay PC, will not give access to the second Closed Beta.
All content (XP, Levels, money, parts) earned during the first Closed Beta will be wiped for the second one.
There will be no NDA for this second Closed Beta.
The Closed Beta will end on Friday, August 29th.

Quite happy to see Ubisoft testing this repeatedly, hopefully this will mean less of the usual launch isses come release. Also hoping to see a bit more content available this time beyond lvl 10. Dont mind going through the first 10 lvls a couple of times for betas but would like a go at some of the other car classes that you need to be higher lvl to unlock
