Hey! Did the Wicklow 200 on Sunday: i really enjoyed the event, and put a strong effort in..
Yesterday i was quite tired and today i seem maybe slightly more tired...
After the event, i had the pasta meal, a high 5 protein recovery shake & dinner that evening.. Yesterday, i went to work and just ate as normal and took it easy...
I am planning on heading back out on the rothar tomorrow....
    Is this too early?
Any ideas on how to speed up recovery after a big event?

I think i am also slightly tired from work and getting up at 4:30am on Sunday: catches up on you!!

    A

Take a gentle ish spin tomorrow to get the legs going again, and see how they feel, then resume whatever full training is on Thurs.

Lots of stretching and hydrate well will help the body recover.

Same here. Two good nights sleep and I am not 100%. Hydrate well. Really really well

Dont mean to hijack the thread but dosent this just show you how fit the pros are. When you consider that they do 21 stages of 150km average.

Plenty of fluid and stretches before a short spin on the bike to get the legs moving.

Everything they do is geared towards cycling/recovering. In the real world jobs, kids, life etc etc gets in the way of this

A recovery spin is usually a good idea. Extra sleep is always good, and personally I'm a fan of regular stretching too and especially after an event.

Also, bear in mind that a bigger than usual effort on the bike may leave you needing more food than usual over several days (depending on degree of effort, your diet, your aims, etc.).

Went for a gentle spin yesterday morning to get the stiffness out of the legs. Back commuting on the bike again today. Easy spin in but not looking to the run home its mostly uphill.

Hey! Thanks for the replies! Yea, i think when you are busy with work etc and then do a 200km cycke; it takes it out of you!
Think i burned about 6,500 cals and a rolling time of 7hrs 45... So is a big effort...

I imagine the pros have certain products that help them recover that bit quicker!!
Also they have sougneurs, team cars etc...they have it all down to a fine art!!
