Considering I live in town I find it amazing that I never discovered this place b4.
This will be Day 1 and I will go back another day....
Is there anything else I should look for?
Security guy said there is a guided tour, would that bring me further inside the grounds?

I like the first one best, although they all look a little too 'run of the mill', if you get me. Nothing is really jumping out at me to excite me. Couple of them look to be overexposed too.

    Agree with Trooney above.
    Nicer light would help though.

you should check out the chester beatty library - no photography allowed inside though, i'd imagine.

Yes that's what I'll be doing next, I didn't have time to drop in the other day.

AR, I was expecting to see the shot of Lady Justice facing the castle (British Ruler) with her back to the people! Maybe for when you return.

    The lens distortion is awfull!
I don't really see the point its like looking at an amateur photographer go on holidays!
    in picture order,
Picture 1 has chromatic aberration would probably look better in black in white in the morning i think the lighting then would give it a nicer feel.
Picture 2 Lens distortion makes me feel like I'm watching the scene from Goodfellas also there's way to much clarity I don't know if its your monitor. But its to much.
Picture 3 I get the idea, suit it that building in the door way to the right with the security camera is sucking my vision, away from the concept, Of what you were trying to do. which is the church on the left?
Picture 4 lens distortion and chromatic aberration and im a little lost as what your aim of that picture?
The last 4 you need to remove the chromatic aberration and lens distortion,.

My advice would be very simple. I would research the area in detail most of them are evening morning shots. I would google the sh1t out of the area, Because there's plenty of people who've shot that area in the past. Its not like there's going to be interesting shots to get how ever you need to feed your brain with whats been done and then look at whats not been done. I'm not trying to insult you how ever Look at some good land scapes photographers. work up from there you've seen whats their now research it more go back and mellow out don't try take pictures let them come to you.. :)

Consider the above a recki maybe?

    Gehad!
    Read post #7 here ;)

Now that you've worked out that they are meant to be distorted I shall add a few more words :D
This set was not for C&C, no idea why you would think that?

The reason why I posted these pics here is as I said in my original post I live in Dublin city centre yet I had never ventured in DC and it's surrounds b4 :o
So I decided to take some 'tourist snaps'
I have no interest in 'professional' landscape photography but I will take pictures of places that I haven't been to before.

Since you passed fit to c&c my pics I shall attempt one of yours...

    Over sharpened/clarity?
    Noisy and OoF?
Spot metering on a group shot is fine if you are picking out a subject but you haven't?
    Sky totally blown out?
Distracting wires left right and centre?
I suggest you look up this link or study bicycle pictures from google images?

You posted tourists pictures in a photography forum, what do you expect? Seriously there's no justification for posting that in a place like this, granted if its a new comer I wouldn't of been so hard noised.

But you take enough pictures to have some degree of common sense most of all as a seasoned photographer, you should have booth the ability and integrity to under stand that any one persons views are there own and entirely subjective. But you don't, instead you show an attitude a 9 year old.

Your actions are short of nothing that can be described of insanely pathetic. Grow up... Maybe in future you use this for your tourist picture. Perfect dumping ground.

But I really hope you felt better after well telling me what you thought of a picture of mine.

This is a Photography forum Exactly.
People from beginners to experienced use this forum to post all types of pictures....well b4 you ever joined.
I will continue to post photographs here from a range of 'tourist' ones to art to whatever takes my fancy unless a Mod tells me differently.

to be fair, if you post photos to a thread of their own, you should expect comment and critique - after all, it is a discussion forum.
if you don't want comment - post them in the random photo thread, or don't post at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,067 ✭✭✭AnimalRights

8 pics may have been a lot for a random thread ;)
and I remember the days when I was banned by Calina for far less 'critique'

Some harsh stuff here, I think if the title doesn't have C+C in it , then don't post if you don't have nice things to say !

Nice pics , I like the colours and sharpness ..
