I starting uni in september and I applied for susi on the 14th of May. I haven't heard anything from them yet and I'm just wondering has anyone else heard anything. Whether they've been refused or what documents they need to send. It said on the application thing that it would take 2-3 weeks. I know they're slow but it's been nearly a month now!

Ring them. But it can take months for them to sort things out so I would not get too worried just yet.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I applied around the same time as you and I received a letter about 2/3 weeks ago asking for my documents. Mine is a new application if it makes any difference but I would ring them if I were you.

Okay so I got my letter today. I'm so confused though! They want my Final Course Acceptance Form, which from what I can work out CAO do all the work there? My birth cert. The declaration form enclosed and my bank details.......
I though there would be a whole pile of documents to send? Will they contact me again asking for more or is my birth cert the only thing I have to send away? They're making this too easy..... It's confusing me!

The final course acceptance form you cant give. You just have to go onto your cao application and tick the box that says 'share my info with SUSI'. They wanted more documents from me but everyones application is different. On some occasions I've read they can send another letter asking for more documents but it just depends what information they need. Were you given a deadline of when to send you documents back in?

Get them in as soon as you can so they can be accessed. I sent mine in last week and I got onto their facebook page asking them if they received them and they told me they wont be telling people if they have received their documents?! how weird is that!! So my deadline day is tomorrow and my application status on the internet hasn't changed! Any chance your application is still saying 'Application submitted'?

See I done my leaving cert last year but I would have been 16 going to college so I deferred my course. I always knew I was going to do that but I applied for a grant anyway just in case but I messed up my application :L I accidently ticked the wrong box saying I received BTEA so it got refused. Then this year when it came to applying again they just told me to use a different email address so It would come up as a new application instead of trying to explain everything :p I'm going to Maynooth :D

Awh thats so exciting :) so does the college just send you a letter of when your starting and everything? like you didnt have to go through the CAO again?

Nah still had to go through CAO. Last year instead of accepting my course I had to write to them asking them to defer my place for one year and they let me. Then this year as long as that's the only course I put down on my CAO and say that I'm a deferred applicant I should get my offer in early July :)
