    Hi,
I have been invited for an interview and I am really nervous! I got a phone call today to ask me to come in tomorrow morning. I am not really sure what exactly the job is for as it the job application said Student summer work available, all I know is that it is to do with sales. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what kind of questions get asked at an interview or do I need to bring anything, or what to wear?
    Thanks

With regards what to wear, are you male or female? If your male, you can't go wrong with a suit - if it turns out to be uncomfortably formal, you can lose the jacket and tie, but you can't go the other way if you just wear slacks and a shirt and feel underdressed.

If it's non-specific sales work, there's a decent chance it's door to door sales work, which is pretty horribly punishing.

Most interviews I've had are either competency based ones, which follow a "This job will require working as part of a team/ dealing with customers/ managing your own time/etc. Can you tell us about a time you did that?". And then you respond with "I've dealt with that a lot during <Thing on my CV>, a particular example that comes to mind is <Anecdote>"

The other type are more technical, where they just ask you to clarify and go into more details about stuff on your CV. This can be great, because they just give you the opportunity to present yourself to them. That tends to be for interviews where your qualifications/experience matter more, though. Student Summer work will probably be more the former type, I'd wager.

Whatever happens, don't stress too much about it. So long as your relaxed, you'll generally have enough time to come up with a good answer while they're asking the question, and coolness under pressure is a big thing they look for. And if it is door to door sales, they hire almost everybody, since it tends to be commission based work, so the interview is really just a screen to catch people that either wouldn't have any competency, or don't seem like they'll hang around.

    Thanks Raphael,
That really puts my mind at ease! I am female, so was thinking of just wearing a navy dress with black blazer, can take the blazer off if I think its to formal. On the phone when I asked what would be involved she said I would be dealing directly with the customers, so that does sound a bit like door to door.
