hi lads going on holidays on the 22nd for two weeks.

Last time I was on the dole a few years ago I just had to call in the day before and sign off, is this the same now?

I googled and saw some online application?how exactly does that work?

    thanks

Fill in the online form or call into to your local office, minimum of 10 days max 21 days before you go away.

You need to check to make sure that your office is operating the online holiday application. Not every office is providing this online service.

What if the online form doesn't have your local social welfare office? if your from Dublin for example there are only 8 to choose from and mines not there?

Then you need to go into your office as I already said not all offices provide this online service.

I'm in Limerick and it was listed in the online application form that I filled in.

However I went in today to double check and the woman told me just to come in three days before I leave.

The reason you are asked to come in 7-10 days before is so that your payment to the post office can be held until you return from holidays. Perhaps you will be able to collect your payments and thats why you were told 3 days.

    hi,
just wondering if i just get the holiday form at reception fill it out and hand it back to them like i did last year?
or do i need to take a ticket and wait for hours now to get the form?

Its best to take a ticket so they can tell you when your payment will be in the post office as your payment while you are away will be pulled and then let run with the payment on your return.

cheers, I ended up going down to them and there seems to be a problem..

my understanding of it was as there site says "You must give a minimum of 10 days notice and you cannot apply more than 21 days in advance"

However I filled out the form and the girl at reception as I didn't get down before half 12 said I should come back before half 12 tomoro cause I was meant to give "at least 3 weeks notice"

I explained what the welfare site said but the girl said different offices have different rules.
I'm worried about what they will say now.. do I have a case since it's there site which gave me misinformation?
It's about 2 and a half weeks till I go now..

7-10 days would be the normal amount of notice requested. Go down tomorrow and it shouldnt be a problem.
