    Hi all,

Am pretty sure I've read this correctly but just said I'd ask here to be certain. Is it a necessity to have a FETAC Level 6 qualification to qualify for an allocation from the National Reserve?
From my reading it seems that it is, any comments advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I think if u obtain the required qualifications within a defined period u should b ok. What I mean is u may apply to NR in 2015 without qualifications while u were enrolled and participating ag course with the intention of getting the qualification. U may only get basic payment greening payment but the young farmer top up would only apply on achieving required qualifications. This query was addressed in the departments cap post 2015 handbook which was circulated in ifj a few months back. This handbook is on departments website. I wouldn't stand over what I just said above so read the handbook...its in it somewhere

I applied a couple of years ago and i think fetac 6 was level needed, my old green cert was the equivilent so had to get a letter of equivilance . Soory about the spelling :)

I understand there is an 'off farm' income limit that may prohibit a new young farmer getting entitlements from the National Reserve in 2015.

Does anybody have any information on this? I am starting out in 2015 and will be applying to the national reserve but I have an off farm job and I am afraid this will mean that I wont qualify.

No mention of this yet and I would suspect not until 2015 applications are in and they see where the national reserve is at both overall and how to divide it out.

Off farm income for NR 2015 not determined afaik. The threshold for previous schemes was 30k net. Open to correction there. Ask at the ploughing or email department.

Thanks for this folks. I'll email the department and see what they have to say.
