iPhone texting via Eircom.net - How does this happen?

I have an iPhone 4s and so does a friend of mine.

When I send him a text, at the top of the window, on his phone, is not my name or number (as he has them in Contacts) but MyName@eircom.net - i.e. my email address.

He doesn't have my email address in Contacts, yet I appear to be sending him texts this way.

How is this so? Not that it really matters, just curious.

    Thanks.

    D.

    It's using iMessage not SMS.

To fix it go to settings>messages. Scroll down to send and receive and make sure only your phone number is ticked for send from.
