Mortgage Approved - but waiting

    Hello,
I have been approved a mortgage by bank of ireland in May. I got sale agreed on a house 14 weeks ago.

We were told before we made an offer that the sale of the house has been released by EBS in excess of €xxx and as there were a few offers on the house, we made an offer for €15,000 over the asking price and it was accepted.

Now 14 weeks later, our solicitor has been informing us that the Vendors Solicitor has been walking for consent from the EBS.

Is there anything we can do, or Bank of Ireland can do to push this?

It seems incredible that this is still going on?
I have been onto my solicitor endlessly, and always the same response. Surely there's something that can be done.

    Any advice really appreciated.

You are better off asking the question in the AIB forum, since AIB and EBS are effectively the same company.

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

    Hi Limbo159,

Thank you for your post on boards.ie.

At this stage of a mortgage application, the initial stages are completed by your solicitor and the vendor's solicitor.  Unfortunately this is a process that needs to be completed by the solicitors involved and regrettably is not something that can be investigated by Bank of Ireland. It will be necessary to have your solicitor discuss this with the vendor's solicitor.

Apologies we could not be of more assistance to you in this instance, we hope this issue is resolved for you shortly.

If we can offer any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Thanks,
    Paula C
