THESE are the people who should be on tv, tugging our heart strings and bringing tears to our eyes. Not the cretins on Britains Got Talent and the X Factor. Anyone who finds this remotely funny must be sick.

OP I don't know why you should mention about people finding this funny, you've now just giving people Ideas and now people will laugh. Reverse Psychology.

Is it intended to be funny?

I said it because there are people out there who would laugh at this instead of finding it inspiring.

I didn't want any smart ass comments unless they were directed at the trashy tv shows I mentioned.

What do you want to discuss then?, how.unfunny this is?

Slightly ironic use of the word cretin there

My point was that we have to put up with talentless cretins on the likes of Britains got Talent when we should be paying more attention to the efforts made by these people and those who support and mentor them.

    That's a fairly specific list isn't it?

So what you're saying op is that humour isn't subjective. That if someone finds something funny in something you don't then they are wrong. Are you actively discriminating by saying that no one can find humour in the video, even if its not at the expense of the individuals performing?

    Not at all patronising.

Some things just aren't funny. Simple.

I wouldn't be the biggest fan of BGT but last years winners were excellent and so were this years.

If art is subjective then there's humour to be found in everything.

Or maybe I can see that these people while restricted either physically or mentally are human beings just like you and I.

This isn't about art. This is about people being the best they can be.

They should do a special needs X Factor next year, so we can both enjoy it.

So if you have special needs then taking part in something like this is being the best they can be but if someone without special needs does it then what's it called? I would assume that it was art, no matter who does it.

Talentless twats are reveered in our society just because they can throw a few shapes or sing a cover version out of key.

There is no equality for people like this. If they were to appear on one of the so called mainsteam talent shows the best they could hope for is the cynical sympathy vote before being dumped out at the earliest opportunity.

There is no level playing field.

Could you get any more patronising? You do realise that you are the only person in this thread looking down on those with special needs. That you think that someone with genuine talent who has special needs would only get a sympathy vote says it all really.

I am not looking down on them. Society as a whole is.

Tell me, have you watched all of the video and if so what did you think of it?

You're looking down on everyone else and then suggesting that the people in the video wouldn't be able to appear on something like BGT because they'd only get sympathy votes. You're the one who seems to think the people in the video aren't good enough for real talent shows.

You can just picture then sitting back in their chair and patting themselves on the back for what a great inclusive individual they are.

Honestly all joking aside, what exactly is inspiring about it? They're doing something, good for them? I genuinely am asking what is inspiring. They mostly seem to be mentally handicapped, I don't think I've ever seen one of them not be happy and enjoy themselves - I'm sure it happens, but I doubt it's uncommon for a handicapped person to do something they enjoy. This is pretty normal I'm sure, and to be honest, the Tequila fella was gas.

Also, it doesn't matter what you want people to say, that's not how this works. Do you think if this was on telly instead of those you or anyone else would watch it each week, unless they're looking for a laugh? It's not inspiring, it's mentally handicapped people doing what they do.

Since I am a victim of that awful drug Thalidomide, that is quite impossible.

Agreed. It is only entertaining to the general public I feel in a humorous way as opposed to a talent way. There are plenty of shows that illustrate these individuals in a true light for their talents such as retarded policeman on youtube, spastacus, undateables, and documentary on RTE a while back.

These individuals performed to their maximum and credit to them, but from an entertainment value their are better shows out there. Although Xfactor is not one of them!

Who do people think are the most talented performers in the video?

I'm going to go for the MC, Yusupha the ventriloquist, didn't see his lips move once.
