Helmet in hand luggage?

I can't see a reason why there might be an issue with me bringing my helmet in a small hand luggage bag in the morning, but can someone put my mind at ease so I don't have to do a bit of repacking?

    * thinly veiled I'm going on holiday thread :pac:

Do you have any idea of how dangerous aeroplanes are? Wear the helmet.

I've carried mine in hand luggage, no problems. Although it's a hoor of a yoke to pack.

I'm going to wear it while walking to the plane, in particular on those travelator things, but I plan on taking it off when belted in.

No, helmet is for the footpad only.

Thought this was going to be one of "those" threads until I saw the last word in the title.

Completely fine, I've done it a good few times, never a problem. My allen key however was a different matter.
    Safe flight!

Recent reaearch shows a helmet won't save you in the event of a plane crash

Me too. Helmet in hand luggage is not a problem.

I always bring it with me but outside the hand luggage clipped on. Never an issue.

I'm planning in hiring a bike when I holiday in Portugal in a fortnight.

I plan showing up in bib shorts, summer jersey, gloves and my nice shiny diadoras, clip clopping my way through departures. Those pesky check-in charges.

I think Vladimir Kurtains said something similar in a previous post, about his allen keys being removed by security. I'm at a loss to see what danger allen keys can pose. You'd do far more damage with the plastic fork, or a mini-wine bottle.

I had completely forgotten I had packed them tbh.
It could have been used as a weapon, the metal of the allen keys was longer than the permitted length.
The security guard took them from me and binned them. I asked to talk to her supervisor explaining they were clearly for cycling purposes (she had just gone through my bag and seen loads of cycling gear). Security came back, took my allen keys out of the bin and gave them back to me.
Small victory and I won't pack them again in hand luggage.

Another time I had a sharp camping knife in my bag (completely forgot it was there), got through security/ xrays no problem!
