    Hi,

Just looking for some recommendations for a cotbed. We already have a cot but as LO is now 18 months old and quite a big fella we really want to get him something bigger which can convert into a bed. We obviously still want the bars and all as he is still very young but something large which he can move around in more would be great. Not too worried about the price. Any recommendations on a specific brand or type of good quality cotbed or any tips and whether they be good value or more expensive would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi paradigm,

We have the rialto oak from mamas and papas, it's huge, we got it as a gift, its quite expensive tho at €360 I'm sure there are better and cheaper ones out there, but I love mine, although not sure I would have spent all that money myself, however at least it saves the hassle of getting a bed in the future.

I moved my now 2 year old to a toddler bed at 17 months. I just made sure room was completly baby proof. She took to it no problem. I was pregmant with no 2 and had bad spd and wasnt able to be putting her in and out.
It was fine at that age as she wasnt attatched to her cot.

thread hijack! Was actually looking at mamas and papas website today. The one you have looks really good. Also saw these 2 which seem pretty expensive but are on sale!

    http://www.mamasandpapas.com/product-yale-furniture-package-white/pkya02700/type-i/

I like the stuff from mamas and papas even if.they are quite overpriced. However, from the reviews on the haywire a lot of people say the quality isn't great?

Suucee we'd definitely need rails as he is able to open all the doors in the house and he isn't the safest.

Yeah I love it now I have to say, even at the price, it's exactly what I wanted, it's good and sturdy too, we have the matching changing table/drawers, if you buy the whole package it works out quite good I guess, your getting the wardrobe for free nearly. I really like mamas and papas stuff too but it is over priced a bit.

We got ours in ikea. You just take one side off to use it as a bed. On our son we decided to make a big deal of him moving into a bed (and to keep the cot for his sister) so we bought a small bed in ikea. I slept in it last night so I can confirm that it's sturdy, big enough for a 5ft2 person and very comfortable. We got a good mattress for both so I think the cot end was around €150 and the bed €180.

Most cotbeds are pretty much the same size and require a mattress 140cm x 70cm. If I was buying mine again I would get this one! http://www.kiddicare.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_11302_-1_97934_10151
    Love this too though http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tots-Cots-Sleigh-Daybed-White/dp/B00IONBK3G/ref=sr_1_83?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1402417743&sr=1-83
