    We have a prize list!

Top six overall, and the top three each of A2, A3, A4, Juniors and Women, for a total of 21 prizes!

Weather forecast is looking dry as well (fingers crossed!), so if you've ever wanted to give TTing a go, this is a perfect chance. And for those with more experience and ability, come on down and get your name on one of those prizes!

Would this be a lumpy enough course that a regular road bike would do the job just as well (or even nearly as well) as a TT bike?

There's a lot of gear changes required, but depending on the wind, a pair of aerobars will probably be useful on certain sections. From the photos of last year's event, most people had aero kit of some sort, but a few went without.

How are the numbers looking? Trying to arrange logistics to secure a hall pass!

Call us old-fashioned, but there's no pre-event sign on. Plenty of interest though! I'll tote up the prize fund and post it tomorrow.

I'll bring breakfast _and_ lunch so.

Sorry Buf and co, I'm playing golf with my dad on Sunday for Father's Day. I'm going to spot his wayward drives as a present. Can't make the event so.

I'm not going to the Swords sportive then!

Thanks very much to Orwell for organising this event, I really enjoyed it and the weather was great.

I mentioned this chatting after the event, but it would be great if more events like this were organised in the ci calendar. Obviously I understand the costs etc, but anyway, a +1 from me for the format.

Having said all that, I finally managed to time my warmup reasonably well and I managed to use the aerobars on quite a few sections. All good practice for me.

I was one of those who "missed the turn" which left me a bit deflated at the Ashford Road. I google mapped where I was (wife loved this when I got home "you Googled where you were in a tt?") and cycled back the way I came. Reentered the tt again but couldn't find the rhythm again.

I fully hold my hand up for missing the turn there were Road markings when I got back, I presume a mistimed drink or something but there was a marshal there when I got back that I also missed, those are the breaks.

As constructive feedback, since I wasn't the only person who missed this, you can possibly adapt for next time.

And back in time for lunch in the garden, thanks again and well done to all who competed there were some fast bikes!

Just added and divided some numbers and the average speed for the winner was 43km/h

Fully take it on board - we had a few riders go off course, so clearly some work needed if we're running the same event next year.

    Winners now up at http://www.orwellwheelers.org/news-and-events/643-hammond-memorials-results

This was a great event, challenging route in fabulous weather. Unfortunately, I finished miles behind - stupid mechanical issue messed me up and I posted a time that I wud probably beat on my granny's high nellie, aerobars or not. A glance at the results showed that I think I only beat a young lady's time, who may have gotten lost en route. The shame....!
But there's always next year and I will be back hopefully.

On a different note, there was a bizzare incident unrelated to the event whereby a slighty older gentleman cyclist crashed heavily not far from the start/finish area while many were warming up. He appeared to fall independently to the TT riders and to my view, he absolutely clocked himself in the middle of the road. Thank God for the ambulance which arrived immediately and especially the competitor from Bohermeen who tended to him. (Top marks to him.) Really hope he is ok; he was sitting up when I had to leave to start and the medics were in situ. But a strange one all the same. That stretch of road has had a fair few incidents.
