Wayleaves and required maps for water pipeline

    Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what specific wayleave map details are required to satisfy water services departments of County Councils. I am trying to buy a house where the water supply (i.e. 3 inch main) runs through a third parties land and enters the site from the rear of the property I am trying to purchase.
    Are there example maps available?

It appears that this issue was not dealt with correctly before the house was built!!

If the correct maps are supplied to the County Council how long does it or should it take for the Council to agree to take the Water supply in charge thereby giving me the surety of a continuous water supply to the property.... before I purchase the house.

I really don't know how to start to fix this issue.

Any help to set me straight would be great.

    Thanks to all.

Make the vendor sort it out. Would you fix or pay to fix the engine of a car you were buying?

    Hi 4 Sticks,

I am trying to get him to do that but he has not submitted the correct maps etc for the CoCo to make a decision as to whether what pipe and water route and wayleave is acceptable to them.

I am beginning to think the vendor is not telling me all about the problem with the Co Co and planning, however the Co Co did give planning approval even though it appears they never received proper / any wayleaves necessary. On top of this the Co Co don't appear to have inspected the water main running through a third parties land!

This is the second property we have gone after and we are running out of rent and storage money etc so we could do with this going through ASAP. I would hate to think we had to start the buying process all over again.

I know this is my problem and thanks for your help and advice.

    regards,

    Mirka

I am sympathetic. Walk away now and you have no problem. Buy the site and the problems remain yours.

Mirka, is it a county council pipe or a group water scheme?, is it an old or new pipeline, if it's a group water scheme and an old pipe there's a good chance there is no way leave maps or written agreement, talk to your scheme or get the vendor to, if it's a council pipe they should have way leaves for it.
