New Nissan Qashqai stop/start system error

I am the unhappy owner of a 2014 Qashqai 1.2 L petrol, which, in my short acquaintance of it since March, has repeatedly displayed a stop/ start system error message upon normal driving conditions. I have had it back to the dealer 4 times already, first, they couldn't find a fault.
Then it was a switch. Then a switch, again. Followed closely by a software update.

Now the error has resurfaced yet again and I've really had enough of it at this stage and now wish to return the car as this seems to be on ongoing issue and I don't see why I should get stuck with it. I still have less than 2k on the clock!

Just wondered if there were any other Qashqai owners who had been experiencing this problem or if it's an isolated case?

Got a call on a brand new Captur (shares lots of DNA with the Nissan) with exactly the same error today. I'll let you know what the diagnosis is monday !

Coincidence as we were just talking about it this morning. He only has the car a few weeks. He's been getting the error regularly and he brought it back to the dealer last week .. they said it's sorted. Lo' and behold IT'S BACK. Says its doing his head in.

Anyone got stop/start fault warnings popping Up on 2016Nissan Qashqai

Her indoors had the same fault message on her Qashqai, it turned out to be a faulty battery in the end.
It started off the same way you describe, spurious stop/start warning message which came and went then one day she went out to start it and it had a flat battery. Jumpstarted it and all was well for a couple of days (still the odd message though) then another flat battery, hadn't time to jumpstart it then so just left it for a few hours, tried to start it again and it started.
She brought it to the dealers and they replaced the battery under warranty and it's been as good as gold since.

Looking back I suppose it makes sense, the stop/start warning message was probably trying to tell us that the battery was on the way out so wasn't going to try stopping and starting the car.

Fairly common. Usually it's a quick fix in the dealer, in my experience with these cars :)

I have the start/stop feature on my VW Golf, I leave it on all the time but I do wonder if it will eventually take its toll on the battery...

I've mainly dealt with them in newer models and they've frequently came on but a call to Nissan got it sorted quick. It's been that way for the last few years.

Tbh I wonder do they have any benefit at all

A bmw mech, mentioned to me that after 4 or 5 years alernators are failing, and it's all down to stop/start feature.

    It's a feature I hate,

    Procedure.

    Get into car
    Foot on brake,
    Push start
    Seatbelt on
    Push auto handbrake
    Push stop/start (turn it off)

    Drive..

Repeated starts can't be good for the timing chain either, all that torque of a diesel yanking the chain unnecessarily.

There's so much wrong with that post, it's hard to correct it.
