I had a few days off work so I thought I'd make a photograph of what I do. C&C very welcome.

This is not me being critical of your photo or anything, I think it's excellent, but is there a word for that kind of washed look on the blacks? It almost looks like it was under exposed and cranked up in post processing then the contrast reduced or like the blacks have been brightened completely. I really like it and I've no idea how to re-produce that kind of an affect.

    vsco present filter in Lightroom?

Can be replicated by increasing the base line of the blacks in the curve graph

Really like that. Portrait and still life. Very effective.

Yep! I'd call it a fade but really you're just crushing the blacks in your tone curve. It's a bit OTT in this one but there was some junk in the backround that I didn't want to bring into PS to clean up so if I clipped the blacks and then underexposed them with the burn tool it would cause a complete lack of information. I've attached a picture to illustrate how it's done.

Exactly this! Although I didn't use VSCO I have in the past and find it to be pretty cool considering I shoot a lot of film. The less time I have to spend behind a screen the better in my opinion.

Thank you! Never thought of it as a still life, good to see someone else's spin on it.

I like the way the black back ground is faded it, gives you more prominence with in the picture generally most black back ground is kinda contrasty This is a welcomed change from some of the crap that people do nice one :) good lighting to.
