Car shampoo

    Hi.

What car shampoo would people recommend? I know a car shampoo has to be mild enough not to remove wax/sealant, but does that make most of them not much better than water?

Ive noticed with my current car shampoo after using it and then going to apply wax/sealant, the sponge I use to apply the wax/sealant gets dirty and the surface often feels rough, like the shampoo didn't remove much.

You should be claying the car pre wax/sealant and should be no dirt transfer.

Yes, it can be Catch 22 with shampoo, as you say weighing up cleaning power verus LSP durability.
What you want is a balance of, cleaning power, LSP safe, and slickness.

Suds help but it's not its not the major factor. Some good shampoos arent very sudsy....lubrication is key; to limit potential damage as the wash mitt glides over the paintwork.

Got a bottle of Dodo Juice Sour Power from Cleancar - brilliant stuff.

I am using Mr.Pink at the moment, but one question for you.

    How is your water supply?

My supply has crazy amounts of Limescale
and after about 3 washes I can fee that the slickness is gone from my paint.
When I re-coat with an LSP I can feel the roughness while rubbing on the wax.

Maybe you have the same issue?

The rough feel might be the water. Limescale isn't too bad on the kettle but the car does be covered in water spots if I don't dry it fairly well.

I always use softened water on the car, no limescale at all,
We have a water softener that treats the whole supply and im sure its costs a bit more but its worth it,
i also think its better for the power washer as the lime in the untreated water might build up in the power washer and damage it.

As for the shampoo im using Auto Bright Banana gloss shampoo and im loving the smell of it and it seems to be doing a good job,
also been using gtechniq g-wash and that seems very good to.
