BMW "Cornering Ability Restricted" warning light

BMW 530 GT with the above warning light. Has anyone come across this as I can't find it in the owner's manual. Also, I haven't been able to find any threads online. The flat tyre monitor started flashing shortly after despite the tyres not being flat. It's still on run-flats.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Are one of the run flats flat but don't look like it?

Well known to happen, have you a way to check the pressure?

Press in the valve, see is there pressure in there!

    What year is the car?

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

As YbFocus said, check the tyre pressures. I do mine with a free analogue tyre pressure gauge I got a few years ago, and most petrol stations have an air station. Although the last few I saw you actually had to put money in the yoke (that you would not get back :()

Don't forget to reset the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System after checking or putting air in the tyres.

Thanks for all your answers. The air pressure is fine in all the tyres. However when I stop driving I now hear what sounds like a punctured tyre with the air "hissing" out-only it's not the tyres. The on-board computer is saying to be careful as the car may not have the same height clearance from the road and cornering may be impacted. To me being absolutely ignorant of all mechanical things it sounds like the air coming out is lowering the car and this is setting off the warning letter.

I'll bring it to MMW here in Cork on Monday but am worried should I be driving the car while it's like this or not? Has anyone come across it?

    Thanks again for all answers.

Possibly self levelling suspension at the rear, and an issue with one of the suspension airbags?

Generally, if it's a yellow warning light, it's ok to carry on, but not for too long. If it's a red warning light, then don't drive and get it to the garage as soon as possible.

Thanks R.O.R. Reading up on what you mention and it seems to be relatively common issue. Looks like as with all Bimmer issues it may be an expensive fix.
By any chance does anyone think it could be something different?

    Thanks again.

Just wanted to update here for anyone who may encounter this problem. R.O.R., thanks for your advice. It was the rear suspension airbag. It's a common issue with X5s, 5-series Tourings and GTs. Having been tipped off by R.O.R I searched online for the part and found it for €200 on eBay and it was shipped to arrive the next day. It took MMW 1 hour to install. The off-the-shelf OEM part costs €550 + VAT so it could have been a really expensive fix.

Thanks again all for your help. As always it was very helpful.

Glad to hear you got sorted, Had the garage any issue fitting an outsourced part?

No Pajero. He said the piece was perfect and almost identical to the original part. He actually said he'd be telling his next customers to go searching for the part next time.
