looking for a little advice, have a max of 13k to spend including a trade in value of 3k for a 06 renault grand scenic. Seen a few cars, but looking for a good reliable spacious eco-diesel.

Just wondering if there are any recommendations out there that will not have the kind of maintenance costs my current renault has and needs to be robust enough to contend with 3 very boistrous growing boys.
A 5 seater is not an option as I need the extra seats for school runs etc.

Have seen a couple of 08 Mitsuibishi outlanders or an 09 Dodge Journey, but can find nothing good nor bad about either make. It doesn't have to be an SUV just has to be something that is built to kind of last and doesn't cost a fortune to maintain, a bit of comfort would be nice too.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Just saw this one today I know the price is a little higher than some out there, but the inside is immaculate and the timing belt was replaced at 143k so don't need to worry about it for another 100k km just looking for a few opinions.

I can't see how it'd be much better than your current car to be fair,

current car is a 1.6 petrol, so car tax would be cheaper and might be a bit easier on the fuel. but does this mean same problems re the maintainance costs, because could really do without the headache, between putting in a new timing belt, a whole parking brake system and then the standard maintaince costs like €30 to change a lightbulb because I have to take the front of the car off to change it, would hate to end up having those problems again.

ok so did some research and the grand picasso would be a no go, I don't think I could risk getting a car with the problems tht google seems to be throwing up, I mean tdi problems, gearbox problems, so many I just couldn't even list them. I know every car has faults, but the list seemed to be as endless as the list for a renault which is scary.

What is the consensus on a ford S Max, heard if I bought a 2.0 tdi I should be ok, any insights?
