Writing onto painted wall

    Hi,

Was hoping you might be able to help with something.

One of my mates wants to get a large poem written onto wall. I was thinking a number of stencils and spray paint, but is there are any better ideas? Because it's large I suppose the writing itself would be quite small? The wall is a painted bedroom wall.

Sorry I'm not the most DIY minded but would appreciate your input.

Has anyone done anything like this before?

There are a number of companies that will do custom vinyl graphics, text such as a poem should be no problem..

here's on such place, first on a google search, I've no connection at all..

    google is your friend..

At least this way you'd have control over size and font used, colour too.

I've seen a bedroom where all the lyrics from eminem songs were hand written all over the bedroom walls.

The room was painted red, and the writing was done in black, its sounds horrible but it actually looked very good.

I asked the mother of the teenager how he had managed to get it so neat and she told me that he had blue tacked a timber strip to the wall, levelled it, wrote a line of the song and moved down the wall until he had finished one section, before moving on and starting another.

Another way to do it is to use an old fashioned overhead projector. I don't know where you'd get one though.

    1) get hold of a few clear overhead projector sheets and pens (from any stationers)
    2) write out the script as you want it to appear on one of the sheets and project it on the wall.
    3) experiment with the layout until you have what you want (this is where the extra sheets come in)
    4) use the projected image to guide a pencil to draw the script onto the wall.
    5) use a small brush to paint the lettering.

I've been thinking of trying something like this

Obviously you would have to do it one A4 size area at a time
(or maybe use an A3 printer if you have one?)
