I have a Whirlpool AWO/D 4405 washing machine and the past 4 years we have always had (on and off) smelly cloths after a wash. Not all loads are affected but enough now to get royally peed off. Anyone know why? I cant find any filter or pump to clan. I found an on-line manual and it says nothing.

I had a similar problem with a Zanussi a few years back. The clothes stank every once in a while. I tried various washing machine cleaning fluids that I got in the local supermarket but still the smell would come back.

I finally got to the bottom of it. The cat was climbing into both the washer and dryer every now and then for a p1ss .

Who else is in the house?! :P

On a serious note, I have a Whirlpool AWM 5104, and recently I've noticed this, but it seems to be only a few items in the wash, only notice it when I go to wear say an affected item... Annoying!

Has this recently, is your washing heating up, if not could be heater element gone and some mould is growing in washing machine.

Throw some vinegar in the machine and let it spin I guarantee you the smell will be gone. Saw it on Kim and aggie.

Its to do with low temp washing and the use of liquid detergent. Put a load through on as hot a wash as you can get and the smell should go.
