Appealing 'Non-Conducted Driving Test'

I had my driving test today and when I went to take it, the tester wouldn't take me out because there wasn't a valid tax disc on the car. The car was legally taxed, but the disc hadn't arrived in the post yet (until this morning, after I'd left the house to take the test).

Admittedly, a screw up on my part (the car isn't mine, it's my brother's, and I booked the test in Leitrim as it's near my family home, though I live in Dublin).

I offered to show the tester a receipt proving the car was properly taxed, but he said that without a valid tax disc on the car, the test wasn't going to happen.

I'm moving to the UK on 15th June and wanted to have this test taken before then.

I haven't 'failed' the test as I technically didn't take it, but I have lost the money it costs to book the test. I received a 'Non-Conducted Driving Test' form.

Does anyone know if there are any ways of appealing the decision so that I can have the money it cost to book this test brought forward for another test?

    Motor tax/NCT/Insurance

For those busily preparing for the driving test, motor tax, NCT and insurance can sometimes slip under the radar. So remember, you must have a current motor tax disc, a current insurance disc and a valid NCT disc (if required) clearly on display, a confirmation booking will not suffice.

you can appeal but above is from the RSA - its very clear.

ring early Monday for a cancellation and you might be lucky enough to get one very fast. son got 2 cancellations in the one week (first cancellation wasn't suitable so he got a different date 2 days later )

Don't think that you have grounds for an appeal, or to get your money back. It is up to the driver to make sure that their car has all the necessary documentation with them and displayed on the car, if it is required.

It's an understandable enough mistake to make, seeing as you were driving someone elses car. But it's not one of those things that they are going to just over look. They would not have had enough time to re assign your time slot to someone else, it just went to waste, so your grounds for getting a refund are pretty slim.
