Why wont Bank of Ireland accept an interim death cert from the coroners office to close a bank account?
A friend of mine is wondering why she cannot close the account of her brother who passed away a couple of months ago. Her family was issued with an interim death cert at the time and they were able to close other accounts with other companies, but are unable to close his account with Bank of Ireland.

    Hi colcatscar

Thank you for contacting us here on Boards.

We are sorry to hear of your friends' recent bereavement.

Generally a Coroners Interim Death Cert can be accepted as proof of death to close bank accounts. If this was not the case with your friend, it would be best to contact the account holding branch who will be happy to look into this.

Contact details for all branches can be found here

    Thanks
    Alison
