Saorview - Can Only Get 3 Channels

    Hi guys,

A quick question on tuning Saorview as I seem to be able to only get 3 channels - RTE Junior, RTE 1 and RTE1 +1. I'm based in Drogheda.

Essentially I just moved into a house and I've connected the roof-top aerial to my TV which has a digital tuner. The TV is a few years old but someone on the forums has the same model and can get all the channels so I figure it should be ok.

I've done auto tuning on the TV and it says it picks up 18 services (maybe all channel on 56?) but only the 3 channels listed above can be selected.

    Any ideas?

Essentially I'm seeing the same issues as on this thread except I'm using a Sony TV with digital tuner

Cheers for that but I'm getting nothing on 52. The digital tuner is just skipping past it. Gets 18 services on channel 56. Some seem to be test channels (and are a bit pixelated), others radio (with some audio dropouts) and then the rest are nothing. Perhaps my signal is brutal (although the TV says "Good Signal")

You're only receiving the channels from Mux2 which carries the 3 channels you mention above. The total 18 channels include hidden testcard and radio channels (see below).

Likely to be a problem with your aerial setup, probably need realining to the transmitter to improve reception of Mux1 which carries the other channels. Your transmitter appears to be Clermont Carn in N Co Louth (UHF Chs. 52 & 56).

Great thanks for that. Best get someone out to sort the aerial.

Aerial might need a psu, if there is a masthead amp fitted.
Check maybe in attic if there is one and it's plugged out

The OP is receiving 1 mux OK, with a properly aligned aerial both muxes should be coming in at the same level.

That sounds as if you are still auto tuning. Manual scan channel 52 on it's own, if that is possible on your TV.

Same thing to me from Meaghara. Was watching rte 2, today, next thing it's gone. All other TVs still have it except a samsung. Tried manual tune but didn't work. Took sky magic eye out but no good. Not a clue what it is. Channel 55 good, nothing on 48

Difficult to say what your problem is. No one else has reported a problem with the Maghera transmitter so the problem would appear to be related to your setup. It would help if we knew what the signal was like at the aerial but without a meter that won't be possible.

Is there an amp somewhere in the system?
What type of aerial are you using?
How many TV points is the aerial feeding?

Got it sorted. A 4life mini fta box seems to cause interference with mux2 channels for some reason. So turned the fta off and rescanned and all good.
