Hi guys, anyone have any decent ideas on a build for around €500. Id rather avoid AMDs as I've had bad experiences in the past but if they have turned a corner in the past few years I'd be willing to try again.

    1. What is your budget? ~ €500.

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Office work and some gaming ~ Dolphin Wii Emulator.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No, I'll be using windows 7.

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Monitor, motherboard and mouse.

    5. Do you need a monitor? No.

5a. If yes, what size do you need. N/A

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? 1920x1080

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Yes

    8. How can you pay? Bank Transfer, Credit card

    9. When are you purchasing? ASAP

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? I'll be building it myself.

    Thanks for any advice guys!!

Thanks DERPY DERPFACE for your reply, after checking out this hardware I decided to buff things up a bit. Below is my new proposed build, does anyone have any recommendations? Obviously I would like to make it cheaper but I'm not really willing to go much higher. Also I'm not sure if all is compatible together and if the PSU is big enough...anyways all help is welcome. Thanks!

    WD Blue 1TB 6Gb's - €49,81

    be quiet! SYSTEM POWER 7 500W - bulk - €56,42

    ASUS Z97-K, Sockel 1150, ATX - €107,09

Corsair Carbide Series 300R windowed, ATX, ohne Netzteil - €75,74

    8GB-Kit Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz CL9 - €75,95

    TP-Link TL-WN951N, 300Mbps PCI-Adapter - €21,99

    Intel Core i5-4690K Box, LGA1150 - €209,99

    Samsung SSD 840 EVO Basic 250GB SATA 6Gb/s - €109,99

    MSI R9 270X GAMING 2G, AMD Radeon R9 270X, 2GB DDR5 - €176,74

Total = €883.72 and all parts are from hardwareversand via geizhals.

You could save 15 on ram, search crucial ballistix sport series 1600. Also you could save a bit on the motherboard and bump up the graphics to the gtx 760.

What motherboard would you recommend? I do wish to have the option of overclocking in the future hence the -k version so I just went with that board but I really don't have a clue about that board...just read a few reviews...below is my modified system following your feedback.

    WD Blue 1TB 6Gb's - €49,81

    8GB-Kit Crucial Ballistix Sport Series DDR3-1600, CL9 - €61,33

    EVGA GeForce GTX 760 SuperClocked AX, 2GB DDR5, PCI-Express - €213,80

Total = €884.17 and all parts are from hardwareversand via geizhals.

I'd recommend getting the ASRock Z97 Extreme3 if you want to overclock:

    http://www.hardwareversand.de/DDR3/169028/ASRock+Z97+Extreme3%2C+Sockel+1150%2C+ATX.article

it has 8 phase power compared to the Z97k's 4 phase, high quality capacitors and decent VRM cooling so it should give you the best chance of getting a high overclock in that price segment.

Beyond that you'd get a lot less bang for buck but maybe nicer headphone amps and that sort of thing.
