"Dates of travel from" for Visa C

    Hello all,

    my husband (Congolese) and I (German) are relocating to Cork at the end of the month.

    There have been some struggles along the way but I hope that his visa (C visa under EU directive) will be approved next week.

    My question:

    I have not booked our flights yet but would like to do so today as they are getting more and more expensive.

    On the visa application we entered 26/06 as "Dates of travel from" (that is how it is called on the application summary).

    Could we book a flight for the 25/06 (Cape Town - Dublin)? That means that we would leave South Africa on the 25/06 and arrive in Ireland on the 26/06 (the flights take around 24 hours depending on the connections).

    Does somebody know if the travel date only a "suggestion"? Could there be any problems with the airline?

    I think he only needs a visa for the moment that he actually wants to enter the country and then we would be fine - but I am super paranoid! So many things that can go wrong ;)
