DONT go ANYWHERE near these shower of ........! http://www.reconditioned-engines.co.uk/ They operate under many different names and have been investigated by Trading Standards, BBC Watchdog and some Cowboy Traders program on Ch5.

I was stung by them a few years back and had to sell the car at a massive loss due to inferior work.

Unless you are buying an engine direct from LR, do your research. There are a good few engine places in the UK with appalling reviews. Look for reviews on google/facebook where possible.

Might be worth considering paying with a Credit Card if the CC company offers more buying protection if things go wrong.

    Good Luck.

I bought a gear box from UK (ebay seller) few years ago - no issues at all. It had 1 month warranty only, but worked fine.

1 thing to keep in mind is that if you need to sent the engine back you will have to pay for a courier. This will cost a small fortune due weight and size.

I would ask for a warranty and what is covered and who pays for the postage before making any moves.

I am about to buy a replacement engine in the UK for my freelander.

Are there any issues in doing so? What sort of questions should I be asking the supplier? Has anyone done this before?

Before anyone asks, there no engines located in Ireland.

You should seriously consider just walking away from the freelander as blown engine is all to common. Even if you do find a working engine its likely to be near the end of its short life.

The obly way I'd do it is to buy from an owners club or forum.
