Anybody have any clue where I could start?

    Cheers

I am a furniture maker just out of college and my cousin wants me to build one for him, are you looking to build an arcade cabinet or have one made?

I was thinking of something along the lines of the old 1980's upright gaming cabinet... 1800mm tall around 500mm width and depth.
Can't post a photo as I don't have 50 posts yet... but if you google Leisure 2000 arcade cabinet you would get a rough idea

You would be mad to build, you'd pick up a cabinet similar to the leisure2000 for about €200 with a working CRT, JAMMA harness, PSU, Controls, etc.
This would be your best bet. You can then build a PC 2 JAMMA rig and can play Emulation or use original JAMMA boards.

Not sure what this dude wants but its only worth about €200

Linked one in the post above, they come up for sale every few weeks, just keep an eye on adverts/donedeal. You could also try contact Mitchomagic on the forums, he usually has a few generic cabs for sale. in fact I think he had a few Naoimis for sale recently for resonable money, a little more than mentioned above though

I would suggest be patient, otherwise you'll buy possibly the first thing you come across any might wind up both poorer and disappointed.
Upright traditional Arcade cabinets come up on Adverts often enough, though prices can be daft.
A non working example that is little more than a shell should be around €100/150, find a working one with a decent monitor and I wouldn't spend more than €350 tbh.
Mitchomagic is a regular in these areas, a quick search and a PM might uncover something suitable and priced keenly.

Also, with my moderator hat on, this thread is for advice only, no sales or selling of services here.
    Thanks.

Kerbdog has a Taito cab but it is in need of a lot of work to become worth keeping.
He has taken all the sh1te out so, if you are interested, I'm sure he can let it go for feck all and let you have something to work on, as a project.
Certainly there'll be plenty of opportunities to use all your skills, from woodwork to metalwork, from electrical wiring to gluing vinyl on the finished product.

Does he have it advertised somewhere that I could get a look at ?

It can be used as a template for that style of cab - 20euro and its yours :) of course, you would need to pick it up

So your aware, it will need the majority of the wood replaced if someone was gonna restore it. Most suited to be a template
