Home Study Horticulture courses

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has done any of the home study RHS horticulture courses on offer in Ireland - I think Dublin School of Horticulture and gardenschool.ie are the only places offering them?

I am interested in exploring gardening/horticulture in more detail but reluctant to sign up for the more full-time courses due to work commitments.

Has anyone heard any feedback on these? Are they worthwhile/interesting?

Hi,

Im not sure about Home Study, but the range of RHS horticulture courses are offered at a handful of Irish locations nationwide.

Some you have to pay for, but others are free if you are signing on or on a CE scheme.

Im hoping to start at Level 1 (ie "this is a spade") early next year

I sat an RHS exam a few years ago and wasn't ready for the complete scope of it.
They offer classes in a few locations around the Country but this may have changed.

Two books that are invaluable in the study of horticulture:

The RHS Encyclopedia of Gardening http://www.amazon.co.uk/RHS-Encyclopedia-Gardening-Christopher-Brickell/dp/1405322276

The RHS classes were all evening courses but like I wrote, that was a few years ago.
