BTEA/Advance Entry into Second Year

    Hi guys,

Did a BTEC HND in Multimedia (Level 6) last year and have been unemployed since last June. Yesterday I was accepted into IT Blanch for advance entry to year 2 of their 3 year Creative Digital Media degree (Level 7, optional add on year for Level 8 Hons)

I was hoping to get BTEA but saw this

    >"In general you must be starting your third-level course at year one"

Got a fright, however I assume this applies to me

    >"However, you may be eligible for BTEA if you:

Are exempt from part of your course because of a qualification you received in a previous course. For example, you have a higher certificate in a course that you now wish to pursue to degree level."

So seeing as that's exactly why I'm exempt from first year, I shouldn't have any problem getting BTEA should I? Just hoping someone could confirm for me or has had a similar experience.

Hi Despot seen your message and thought id join up to let you know that it wont be a problem.
I had a Level 6 qualification (Electrician) and i went direct into second year of an engineering degree and received the back to education with no problems at all. Hope this helps

Thanks a lot man! I assumed it wouldn't be a problem but the social can be tricky.

Same here - went straight into the second year of a level eight based upon previous learning and experience. You may just need a letter from the college stating this.
